About me
LAURA WALKER has been a Family Magistrate in Harford County since February 2018. Laura is a graduate of the paralegal program at Villa Julie (now Stevenson University), the University of Baltimore jurisprudence program and the University of Baltimore School of Law. During law school, she worked in the Trusts and Estates Department of a large law firm as a paralegal and law clerk. It was during her participation in the UB Family Law Clinic that she found her calling in family law. On graduation, Laura began her legal career in the Harford County office of the Legal Aid Bureau where she represented children in CINA proceedings, practiced family law and bankruptcy, and also taught the Bankruptcy Clinic. Laura transitioned to the Harford County State’s Attorney’s Office where she represented the local child support administration in modification, collection, and enforcement actions along with select criminal non-support actions for over 23 years before being appointed to the position of family law magistrate. Laura is active in the local community in civic and legal organizations and also on several committees and work groups within the judiciary. Laura and her ever-patient husband live in Harford County and have two wonderful adult sons. In her spare time, Laura is an amateur beekeeper and avid baker.
