2025 Maryland Child Support Symposium
Friday April 4, 2025 9:15am - 10:15am EDT
A Problem Solving Approach to Child Support

Civil contempt cases have been the standard approach to child support enforcement for decades. However, recently, a workgroup of the Judicial Council’s Child Support Subcommittee drafted a Problem-Solving Program Blueprint to guide circuit courts in the development of a problem solving court program as another strategy to enforce child support orders. The workgroup studied existing child support problem-solving programs in Maryland and across the country to identify the elements of a successful program. This session will present an overview of the Blueprint and highlight key recommendations in developing a child support problem-solving court program in your county.
